The SA YGAP Process
Crafted through extensive collaboration with stakeholders, experts, and grassroots organizations, the SA YGAP embodies a collective commitment to achieving gender equality and social justice. It serves as a comprehensive roadmap for policymakers, advocates, and communities to enact tangible change and create a more inclusive society.
At the heart of the process is a firm dedication to amplifying the voices and advancing the rights of women, girls, and marginalised genders across South Africa. Through targeted strategies, innovative programs, and policy interventions, the SA YGAP aims to break down barriers, combat discrimination, and foster environments where every individual can thrive.
Brainstorming
The SA YGAP started with YOU(th)! The process began with consultations with youth all over the country to determine the 7 key pillars and elect the direction to follow with the Project Leads and Coordinators.
Online Workshops
Once the 7 pillars were decided, it was time to get educated! Several online workshops were held with key partners, educational institutions, and partners in the space to create awareness and education around the current status of that pillar in South Africa.
In-Person Conference
The process then developed into an in-person drafting and editing conference to co-create our first set of calls to action! In July of 2023, with participants from all over the country, the SA YGAP conference was key in bringing stories and lived experiences together regarding gender action, creating the final first draft, with more to come.
